Today’s post is a follow up on the post from a few days ago. I asked you to take some time and write down 101 BIG dreams and goals you want to achieve in your life. If you haven’t seen the post yet, I suggest you go check it out –> Can You Answer this …. Try It!, then come back to this one. The first step is extremely important, but don’t get stuck there, because step 2 (this one) is AWESOME!!
Today is all about Action. Dreaming and setting goals are great, but without consistent action (no matter how small), that is all that it will ever be .. Dreams and Goals. Remember in Step 1 we set goals so BIG we know the only way we could achieve them is by changing the way we do things. There must be no doubt in your mind that you could not have achieved any of your BIG dreams or goals without this ACTION.
Lets get to it …
Choose 5 of your BIG Dreams or Goals that you want to achieve this year, or let say over the next 12 months. I know I asked for 101 (if you have less that’s fine, keep jotting them down), but we are going to concentrate on 5 for now. As we achieve our 5 goals, we will move to the next 5 🙂
When you have chosen the your 5 goals or dreams you want to concentrate on, you are going to write down an affirmation for each of these. This affirmation must be with you at ALL time. When you wake up you need to see it, read it and be aware of your goals. When you go to sleep at night EXACTLY the same thing. Keep it with you during the day and read it a few times.
I want you to become totally obsessed with these 5 dreams or goals in the form of your affirmations.
So, how do we write these affirmations?
It’s actually quite easy. You have to write it down in the present tense as if you are busy achieving this goal. Words like “I am so happy”, “I am so grateful”, “I have achieved” etc. Let’s look at a few examples:
One of my goals is to go to Awesomnessfest in Costa Rica in October this year. I have no idea of any detail, if I will have the time, if I will have the resources, what travel arrangements are needed, will I be accepted in the interview (the bar has been lifted significantly) and so on, but that is irrelevant. This is how I will write it down:
Dream / Goal 1 – Go to Afest Costa Rica in October 2015
I am so happy and grateful now that I am boarding my flight at OR Tambo International and travelling to Costa Rica for Awsomenessfest.
As you can see this is a simple statement of gratitude in achieving my dream or goal. I have done 4 others as well and it is all written down on an A4 piece of paper. That page is with me when I go to bed at night, I take it with me when I leave my home in the morning and it is within view all day long.
Now for the important part. When reading your affirmations (Morning, Night and during the day), make sure to get a feeling of achievement. I will read mine and get the feeling of excitement just before I board a flight on a big adventure.
Remember that your mind cannot distinguish between reality and imagination if you attach feeling and emotion. That is one of the main reasons we sometimes feel weird all day after a strange dream. You cannot shake it for a while, because emotion was involved.
And that’s it, not rocket science 🙂
- Choose 5 goals or dreams
- Write an affirmation for each based on achievement
- Read it at least 3 times a day and experience achievement with emotion
- Do it every do (do NOT skip a day) until you achieve you goal / dream
You are changing your future and in order to do this you need to change what you do every day. I know you can spare the 5 – 10 minutes a day this will take to do and TRUST ME, you will feel great every time you do it.
